Last night at the National Library of Scotland Lady Marks announced the winners of the 2010 Callum Macdonald Memorial Award for poetry pamphlet publishing. The prize commemorates the work of the noted printer and publisher, born in Bernera in 1912, who published pamphlets by poets such as Robert Garioch and Hugh MacDiarmid, and was key in the publishing of the Scottish poetry magazine Lines review. The 2010 joint winners are Stichill Marigold Press for And for that Minute by Leonard McDermid and Hansel Cooperative Press for Arc O Mons by Shetlandic poet Christie Williamson. We currently have a display in our George IV Bridge building featuring past winners of the award and more information on the current poetry pamphle scene can be found at Scottish Pamphlet Poetry.
