Chan eil sian coltach ris a’ Ghàidhlig mhòir

Cluinnear an abairt seo air feadh nan coimhearsnachdan Ghàidhlig, beairteach ann an dualchas, ann an Alba Nuaidh. Gheibhear ann an Eilean na Nollaige àite ann an Eilean Ceap Breatainn far a bheil moit mhòr ann an dualchas Ghàidealach. Comharraichidh aig an fhéis bhliadhnail “Féis an Eilein” an ceòl, an cànan ‘s an dualchas. B’ ise chiad d’ a seòrsa taobh amuigh na “Seann Dùthcha” (Alba). An diugh, fichead bliadhna an dèidh dhi tòiseachadh, théid Féis an Eilein air adhairt gu neartmhor.

Seo an sgeul-san …

This phrase is heard echoed throughout the culturally rich Gaelic communities in Nova Scotia. Christmas Island is one community on Cape Breton Island where great pride is taken in their Gaelic heritage. The music, language, and culture of the Gaels are celebrated at their annual Gaelic Festival: Féis an Eilein. It was the first of its kind held outside of An Seann Dùthaich, The Old Country (Scotland). Now 20 years since its inception, Féis an Eilein is still going strong.

This is their story …
