This is a wonderful cookbook exploring the delicious variety of wholefoods. Ross Dobson has long been an advocate of farmers markets and eating seasonally. This book reflects his passion for uncomplicated cooking techniques.

With winter approaching here in Scotland these recipes will surely warm up the coldest kitchen. There are a variety of meat as well as vegetarian dishes.

The photographs by Peter Cassidy capture the richness of each dish. Favourite tried recipes so far are shiitake and barley soup and spicy pinto bean soup with shredded lettuce and soured cream. For those with a sweet tooth the spiced oatmeal cake with chocolate and cinnamon frosting is sure to please.

‘My Grill’ by Pete Evans has wonderful recipes for your barbeque. They are simple and look delish! I for one will be trying out the chilli salt-crusted rib eye with lemon on Saturday!

If meat is not your thing then the corn on the barbecue with chilli & lime will make your taste buds come to life!

Ah warm weather has reached Scotland at last! I don’t know about you but this makes me itch to get outside and barbecue! Go to the beach with a little portable barbecue or just in your back garden you can relax, make yummy food and enjoy the lovely weather we have been having with friends and family!
